John played a scorching harmonica riff as a part of Marcia's remarkable commencement speech for the 30,000 plus in attendance, but more specifically, John played for just one student, his eldest daughter Candace who received her Masters Degree from the University of Texas and was among the 30,000 in attendance.

Sanctified Blues at Church Under the Bridge

John Peyton and Austin Musicians played for hundreds of Austin’s homeless at Church Under the Bridge at IH-35 and 6th St. Volunteers from local churches and ministries serve breakfast, breads, pastries, coffee and teas to hundreds, all donated by generous local area Austin businesses.

Austin country music radio station 98.1 KVET raised a record $400,693 during its 10th annual Radiothon for Kids.

The radiothon, which asks listeners to donate money for Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, went on for two days, broadcasting live from the hospital's lobby. Station personalities including Bob Cole and Chris Mosser interviewed doctors and patients who shared stories of treatment and recovery. Syndicated radio host John Peyton and family were interviewed by KVET 98.1 in an effort to raise awareness and donations for the many family programs and state of the art treatment offered at Dell Children's Hospital. Austin’s homeless warm up on a freezing morning at Church Under the Bridge

Radio Host John Peyton and Austin Musicians played uplifting tunes to hundreds of Austin’s homeless on a freezing Jan 31^st at Church Under the Bridge at IH-35 and 6^th St. Many volunteers from local churches served hot chocolate, coffee, teas and a hot breakfast to the hundreds of homeless in attendance as temperatures dipped into the 20s.

Jagger Peyton has written over a dozen spots and PSAs with blues aficionados John Paul and Melonhead voicing the slice of life commercials.

Operation Call Home

For 13 years straight, John Peyton and the KLBJ All Stars have been the band for The KLBJ Breakfast Bash. Every year on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, KLBJ fills the Renaissance Ballroom for the biggest Longhorn-Aggie pre-game bash in Central Texas! The Breakfast Bash is the ultimate Longhorn/Aggie pre-game event. Half of the room is filled with Aggies, while the other half is comprised of Longhorns. The morning is hosted by a live broadcast of Mark, Ed and Sgt. Sam.  This year $92,295.31 was raised for the Soldiers of Ft. Hood in Operation Call Home

Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards

Marcia Gay Harden was inducted in the Texas Film Hall of Fame. During her acceptance speech Marcia asked her brother-in-law syndicated radio hosts John Peyton to help her describe Texas with his scorching harmonica. He did. The Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards gala, is produced under the auspices of the Austin Film Society and is presented by AT&T. The proceeds from the Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards benefit the educational and artistic programs of the Austin Film Society, a 501(c)3 organization.

Jagger Peyton and The Lake Austin Blues Festival

John Peyton is the consultant and co-promoter of The Lake Austin Blues Festival along with Clifford Antone, Chairman Greg Sellers and John Paul DeJoria. The festival raised over $100,000. for both events for The Palmer Drug Abuse Program PDAP

Chris Jagger and the Nahanni River

Chris finished a new track; called "Nahanni" it will now close the album that we are currently shipping to Japan as an import there. Same record available for North America and are sending the track out as a free MP3 download as we hope it might attract some attention in Canada, which is where the Nahanni River runs up in the NW Territory. There is a campaign to extend the park area and there are commercial mining interests who want to exploit the resources so this track is a reminder of the fragile environment that this unique habitat contains.

John Peyton cuts golden locks or mop top for Locks of Love.

John’s late brother Matthew Peyton told him he could put his long hair to good use. He did. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

JP Plays Clifford J. Antone Memorial

GOING BACK HOME

The news broke late last Tuesday afternoon, so terrible and unbelievable it was all too easy to dismiss: Clifford J. Antone, the best friend the blues ever had, dead of a heart attack at 56. By the third or fourth phone call into the Chronicle, it was obviously not a rumor, the TV crews setting up outside the club bearing Antone's name further confirmation. Finally, someone from inside handed the media a one-paragraph statement from lead counsel Michael McGuire, though seeing it on paper didn't make it any easier to process.

Louisiana State Penitentiary

Jagger Peyton has provided programming for nearly 10 years to prisoners at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, on KLSP FM, as featured on CNN. Angola is the only penitentiary in the U.S. to be issued an FCC license to operate a radio station. KLSP (Louisiana State Penitentiary) is a 100-watt radio station that operates at 91.7 on the FM dial from inside the prison to approximately 6,000 potential listeners including inmates and penitentiary staff. The station is operated by inmates and carries some satellite programming. Inside the walls of Angola, KLSP is called the "Incarceration Station" and "The Station that Kicks Behind the Bricks." TRIVIA The prison has held many musicians and been the subject of a number of songs. Folk singer Leadbelly served over four years of his attempted murder sentence and was released early from Angola for good behavior. Tex-Mex artist Freddy Fender was pardoned from there. Angola also features in the Neville Brothers song "Sons and Daughters" on the album Brother's Keeper. Ray Davies of The Kinks has recorded a song entitled "Angola (Wrong Side of the Law)", which was released as a bonus track on the expanded release of Working Man's Café in February 2008.
